We are
Experienced Driven Informative Certain

Marshall Quantity Surveying allows you to make informed decisions on the value of projects whether it is at a preliminary design phase or it is a fully developed design.

ABOUT US

A proud product of the south, with a no-nonsense attitude, Marshall Quantity Surveying is driven to help clients get better value out their construction projects.

OUR PROMISE

OUR SERVICES

We give clients certainty around the cost of the project by using data created from accurate digital take-offs from the information provided. Then by using the scope and quantities, we calculate materials, labour, preliminaries and general, overheads and margins. This approach gives the client the best level of certainty on the cost and resources required to complete the job allowing them to make informed decisions.

ROUGH ORDER OF COST

A rough order of cost gives you an initial feasibility study into the cost of the project that you are considering. Getting a rough order of cost is usually done at a pre-design or concept stage. It helps to clarify whether your design ideas are likely to exceed your budget and saves on significant design costs. Knowing your budget before you start is critical to successful projects, as you can spend a lot of money on design and professional fees only to find out the project is not viable. Rough order of cost provides you with a metre-square rate that allows to calculate your budget and work out what designs will fit into your budget. Starting your project with a budget is the best way to maximise the value you will get with your money.

ELEMENTAL COSTING

When you have a more developed set of plans that are not yet complete, you may get an even closer budget using the elemental cost product. This also has the advantage of you being able to make selections from products. Elemental costing is a great way to save on expensive design fees by getting reliable information before getting costly full design work carried out. Elemental costing offers excellent value by showing a breakdown of cost per element of the preliminary design without a fully developed design. Typically, this is a halfway between a square metre estimating and a fully measured and price estimate.

ESTIMATE

A fully developed cost that uses accurate well thought out analysis and offers the highest level of certainty. Estimate costing gives the actual value of the project by measuring and working out the quantities of materials, labour, preliminaries & general, overheads and margin. An estimate provides certainty on the cost of the project and resources required to carry out the work and the time frame needed to complete. To give confidence, we need to go through all plans and specifications, quantify and break down into trades and engage with subcontractors for quotes. The estimate is as precise as the design information its based on, so clarification and tags are critical when looking at the total estimate cost. Typically, estimates are based on a sufficiently detailed design, where there are gaps in the design, Provisional Sums are added.

PAYMENT CLAIMS

So you have won a contract, now how to get paid? Payment claims are essential, as this allows the builder to get paid for the works completed each month. By tracking the progress of work allows very accurate payment claims based on the contract value of work achieved. It also keeps an up today record of the amount claimed to date and what amount is left to be claimed.
